What we collect and how we use it
When you interact with us, whether it's in-store or online, we gather information like your name, email address, delivery and billing address, phone number etc.
We use your data for the following purposes:
Name & Address - to send you your order.
Email address - to send you your order confirmations, order updates, dispatch and delivery information, refund/cancellation updates, and any customer service announcements (including abandon basket reminders). If you have opted in to receive marketing communications from Sarah layton, you will also receive marketing emails and newsletters.
Phone number - to contact you regarding any repairs left with us and any order updates. If you have opted in to receive marketing communications from Sarah Layton, we may also use your phone number for marketing SMS messages. We will never use your phone number for any other purpose.
When placing an order:
To place an order online, you will be asked to register for an account. When you register we’ll ask you for your name, billing/delivery address, email address and a contact number. We will also ask for these details if you decide to place your order over the phone.
We’ll need to take a credit card number, expiry date and any other security information your card processor might need. We use Shopify Payments and Paypal for secure payments, as well as V12 and Klarna for finance applications, however, your card details are never stored by us and our site is fully secure.
Once you’ve placed your order, your order details (products purchased, billing/delivery address, contact number/email) are passed to our dispatch team who use this information to pick and pack your order. We may use the contact details you have provided to contact you regarding your order. You contact details may also be used by our couriers to arrange delivery with you. Our orders are sent out via DPD and Royal Mail.
Marketing emails:
When registering for an account, you have the option to sign up to our e-newsletter. You may also receive an invitation to sign up to our e-newsletter when visiting the site via a pop-up window or verbally if you are placing an order over the phone. If you opt in to receive our e-newsletter, your details will be added to a secure email database. Each time we send you an email campaign, we embed a tiny invisible graphic in the bottom of the HTML email. This open tracker graphic, or web beacon, is unique to each campaign we send. When you open your email with images turned on, that graphic is downloaded from our server, and it's recorded as an open on our campaign report.
Marketing SMS messages:
When visiting our site, a pop-up window may invite you to sign up to receive marketing SMS messages. We will not share your opt-in to an SMS campaign with any third party for purposes unrelated to providing you with the services of that campaign. We may share your Personal Data, including your SMS opt-in or consent status, with third parties that help us provide our messaging services, including but not limited to platform providers, phone companies, and any other vendors who assist us in the delivery of text messages.
We use Klaviyo as our marketing automation platform. This database is only accessed by our marketing team. We never share or sell your details to third parties.
If you’d like to unsubscribe, you can do so at any point. You’ll find the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any marketing email you receive from us, or reply STOP to the SMS messgae. We are also available to help over the phone or via email. Just contact us on 01254 822062 or chat@sarahlayton.co.uk and we’ll remove your details from the database upon your request.
How long we keep your data for:
We will keep your information only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy notice and to fulfil our legal obligations. We will not keep more information than we need. The retention period will vary according to the purpose, for example if placing an order we will typically keep your data for up to six years (for proof of purchase and to offer a warranty on your products), whereas when registering for our newsletter we will continue to hold your data until you unsubscribe.
This information is removed upon your request.
